Shorey Myers appointed JAF Executive Director
March 1, 2017
I am delighted to announce that Shorey Myers has been appointed Executive Director of the Jenifer Altman Foundation.
Shorey joined JAF seven years ago in 2010 as Program Assistant. As her responsibilities grew, Shorey was appointed Grants Manager and subsequently Program Director. Shorey has been a partner and leader in JAF's work in environmental health and justice, and more recently in our work on the global trade treaties. She also leads our work with our funding partners. Shorey serves on the HEFN Steering Committee and is also a member of this year's EGA Program Committee.
While JAF is a small foundation, it has played a useful role for 24 years in environmental health and justice philanthropy. JAF provided early support for the publication of Theo Colborn and Pete Myers' Our Stolen Future. JAF made early grants to Health Care Without Harm, IPEN, the Gulf Coast Fund, the Breast Cancer Fund and many other key NGO partners. JAF was a partner in co-founding the Health and Environmental Funders Network. Marni Rosen served as JAF Executive Director for many years with great distinction. Shorey, our new Executive Director, is a gifted young leader in environmental health and justice philanthropy.
I am deeply honored to accept this appointment. JAF’s contributions to the world of environmental health and justice philanthropy are well known, and I am fortunate to have had learned so much from leaders in the field.
We face challenging times. I look forward to deepening strategic collaborations as we work for a just and sustainable world.
The JAF Board of Directors is delighted that Shorey has accepted this new responsibility. Please join us in welcoming Shorey as JAF Executive Director.
With best to all,
President, Jenifer Altman Foundation
